Bioware this week released a gigantic gameplay trailer for the highly anticipated Mass Effect 3, revealing the series new shift towards action-heavy and genre-bending gameplay.
In addition to game save imports from players of the second game, Mass Effect 3 will have three campaign modes: Action Mode, Story Mode, and RPG Mode. "In Action Mode, conversations will have automatic replies and a normal combat difficulty," says Wikipedia. "In Story Mode, conversations will have manual replies and a minimal combat difficulty. In RPG Mode, conversations will have manual replies and a normal combat difficulty, reflective of the typical Mass Effect series experience."
I for one love the genre ambiguity. If one likes leveling up and managing his resources, let 'em. If another prefers action above all, let him. And if a newb want to try his hand, by all means let 'em play Story Mode.
Either way, that teaser above looks like fun. Mass Effect 3 arrives March 6 on Windows.
