This news ensures more PC games on the way

Although business news is usually a bore, it's easy to read between the lines of this latest report: PC gaming is on track to grow by 14% this year. In fact, the platform has seen three straight years of impressive growth since 2009, as I've covered before (here, here, and here).

The reason: "New entrants and console converts," says Jon Peddie Research. "We are witnessing the market morph and grow into different areas," said one analyst. "The hobbyist aspect of the DIY market is driving billions in component sales and small form factor rigs are being hooked up to HDTVs, essentially being used as 'super consoles.' This has always been a strong point of PC gaming; the ability to adapt to different entertainment environments and requirements."

As such, the number crunchers cited above expect enthusiast PC gamers (i.e. anyone who spends $1000 or more on a rig) to grow from 54 million currently to 72 million by 2015.

Now, I don't need to explain why PC games are growing. You probably already know why. The real takeaway is, with continued growth and rising numbers, you can expect even more games to play on your PC. And who doesn't like that?
