League of Legends on a roll with constant updates

In case you haven't heard, League of Legends is kind of a big deal. Despite its free-to-play business model, it quietly became the best real-time strategy game last year (before StarCraft II released, of course).

But just because it doesn't have the marketing budget and star power of Activision Blizzard, that hasn't stopped the indie-developed League of Legends from growing. Thanks to a steady stream of game updates and addictive action strategy, the game is no doubt proof that free-to-play games can be good. So good that developer Riot Games is hiring an additional 100 employees right now to support increasing gamer interest. 

That said, have you played League of Legends yet? If so, what do you like best about the game and how does it stack up to similar games, free-to-play or otherwise?

Ive been playing this for quite awhile and the constant updates are awesome, the only thing I get annoyed with is that people complain about the maps... Yes there is only 2 currently but they are making a new much bigger map so they say, why cant people be patient I mean the games already awesome as it is.

Best f2p online game ever made. I know that is to hard to keep servers alive with so many players, and its hard to do that when its all FREE (except booster and skins but who needs that...) If this game is owned by EA Games i think every queue would be P2P =) but these guyz are great i would like to help them any way I can or that other ppl who can help them will do that

I really like the game, but what I like most has to be how valuable teamwork really is. I know that can be said for other games, but this is a really good example.

I wish my M15x would be repaired or replaced ASAP so I can play it again (it has been shipped out to Dell, not sure when it will come back or be replaced).

If actions speak louder than words, why is the pen mightier than the sword?

Great game,

I look forward to when replays are implemented and observers are added to the main game.

My only other complaint is that they have a lot of down time. Most likely related to the constant updates.

Decent game, but I think the updates are just ruining it. Constant champions just make some people better and worse, especially since the 5 new champions they made no one plays ever.

I agree. Their patching takes at least 4 hours. During this last patch it took about 6 hours... i think
But great game, one of my favorites!

Its a great game but ever since i got a HON account, i barely even play. None the less, it is probably one of the best f2p games. i just don't like how they keep adding one hero at a time into the game, they shud have one big patch and add a group of heroes in, that way it would save more down time

I have been playing League of Legends since 2009 and love the game. I can see why some players could like HoN more as it requires more skill to play, but for more casual and the general public F2P games such as LoL will be more popular. It it easily one of the best F2P games to come out in the past 10 years. (excluding game mods)

The major reason everyone has lost it waiting for the maps isn't because of the time its taking, but the missinformation Riot Games gave about a map supposably going to be released in November of 2010, But it didnt happen and with constant character updates every week to two weeks the gamers have lost it waiting almost 3 months over the intended time for the map and only getting 6 new characters waiting, along with the hundreds of other minascule changes that keep going back and forth with no progress to a larger GAME and not a larger player basis like they have been attempting to create. Mostly an observation of the current situation but i have entirely given up on League of Legends due to the lack of NEW that the game has potential to create but lack there of.

Life is Jellybeans. Is what it is.

I've played this since Beta and it's still going strong, their constant updates keep the game really variable with new ways to try and excel/expand your gaming style. They are very clever with their skins that they release for the champions bringing a desire to destroy other summoners in style. I like how the LoL team is constantly balancing champions so that not one champ rules all, this practically eliminates the boredom of repetition, and also in a sense leads one to try out alternative strategies.

From my experience, League of Legends has been a very fun addictive game. I enjoy how they have incorporated their own ideas into the popular DotA genre. I highly recommend this game to all gamers and of course playing with friends makes this game even more fun 
