Counter-Strike GO: Six things we know

The first trailer for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was released on Friday. Although details are still light, here is everything to hold onto until Valve drops more information.

1. The game is scheduled for release sometime next year, almost seven years after the release of Counter-Strike Source, which is still a top 10-selling PC game. Valve hasn't announced a time table, i.e. Q2 etc, but when announcing the game, they originally promised it "early next year."
2. It is being co-developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment, the same duo who made Counter-Strike: Source. 
3. Although built on Valve's Source engine, the game will reportedly be built from the ground up, rather than being an iterative upgrade to Source. I'm not exactly sure what that means. I'm a writer not a programmer. But I'm sure it'll look dandy. 
4. The game will support cross platform play across PC, Mac, and PS3. CS: GO will also be available for Xbox 360. 
5. CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.) and maps. In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and the "more!" catch-all. 
6. Provided Valve doesn't lay an egg, it will be very popular.
