Do you still enjoy versus fighting games?

As an early teen in the early '90s, my favorite genre was undoubtedly versus fighting games. Arcade, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat (Fun Fact: The first port to PC was the best of any version), SNK games -- you name it, I played it. 

Fast forward to today, and I really couldn't care less for the genre. The gameplay just feels so dated, perhaps it even reached its gameplay ceiling in the '90s. I know Street Fighter IV was well received on PC and consoles alike, but I just didn't care. At this point, if I want to play a versus fighter, I pick up Mortal Kombat II or the original Street Fighter II.

Similarly, I didn't even care that Mortal Kombat didn't come to PC last week alongside Xbox and PlayStation versions. I just don't enjoy *new* fighting games anymore.

What about you, do you still enjoy versus fighting games? If so, is it anywhere near as much as you did in the '90s?

I enjoyed the old school Street Fighter games but now they all seem too cliched and offer nothing really new. One of the fighting games that I will always enjoy playing is Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I believe that's considered a fighting game. I feel like the classics were always awesome. I always enjoyed playing Killer Instinct on the SNES. Howadays though, they can't do much with innovating. I would like to play Mortal Kombat though because it seems like a glimmer of hope for this genre.

Yes these games are amazing and fun. The amount of skills required to play them isn't much (compared to most games). In order to be good and win is something else! However they are good only for a certain amount of time per day before they can get boring as they are normally the same thing over and over again... only different stages and characters.

I wasnt excited about recent releases at all, but mortal kombat blew my mind. i dont really know what it is, but i dig it... COOP arcade mode YEAH!

One of the easiest and fun types of games to play with a long gaming lifespan.

Indeed. I'm still wishing that I get Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but first I need to get an Xbox 360.

I enjoy them, but tend to only play with friends.. Arcade mode in fighting games has never been my thing, just not fun to play a fighting game by yourself.

When some friends come over to my house we always play fighting games. Its just easy to play and perfect for 2 players. We still play BlazBlue (Beginner mode is good for casual play) and I recently got Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (emulator) to play with.

of course, its fun to play with friends, especially to use all the whacky moves they came up with back in the day, especially stuff like street fighter 2 like the guy with the stretching limbs xD

I got Street Fighter 4 from a sale but i don't play it as it is totally uncompatibile to the keyboard gaming and logitech pad i own is also only making problems

Street Fighter was the game which got me into gaming :p I had it for the SNES when it came out and it was ace. I'm not a fan of the '3d Fighters' much prefer the classics. Hadouken!

i still play fighting games against my brother and sometimes online,but not as much as i used to play them when i was still in school.

i still buy all the new SF, SC and Tekken games that come out.
