Help this new PC gamer play really great games

"I have only started playing PC games this year," confessed Stewart Loosemore last month. For various reasons, including being limited to consoles, lower-spec computers, and/or lack of money, "I missed all PC games," he says, "apart from the odd one that I could play at my friends house."

As part of his repentence process, Loosemore bought an M15x and is now trying to play the classics he missed. "I have already signed up to Steam and GoG, but I'm outside my area of expertise and I don't really know where to begin."

He concludes, "I know I have missed classics in the last 10 years but I don't know what they are called or where to look to get them. If anyone has any recommendations of games or knows where to get them please leave a comment below or Twitter me @Stigweird85."

I'd skip the classics and get with the times... the games of today!

If you have an M15x you can play the latest games, so do so. 

Where to begin? StarCraft II, Call of Duty: Black Ops and World of Warcraft Cataclysm will cover the newest and best in RTS, FPS and MMORPG.

If you're a social gamer I deeply recommend Garry's Mod, great time there.
Firse Person Shooter.. Counter-stirke1.6! it's old, its hardcore, it's everything!
If you're into RTS (Real time strategy) then Age of Empire 1-3 are great!
Racing fan? Need for speed underground 1-2, Most Wanted, and the new Hot Pursuit is coming up later on.
Flying Arcade and alittle properties of asimulator, Heroes over europe.

Steam is a great platform to play on for games. But If you don't have any yet, I'd suggest getting Alien Swarm. Alien Swarm was a free game released by ValvE, which has all of the makings of a retail game, but for free! Other great ones include League of Legends an RTS type game (also free, but takes a while to master), Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Either Fallout New Vegas or Classic Fallout 1-3. Battlefield BC2 is also a solid choice, but the free2play Battlefield Heroes isn't a bad choice either. Good luck and have fun.

Classics you say ??? hm...
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Great game, you can get Construction Set for free and can mod the game to your liking. It takes a while to learn the CSet but its worthwhile. This one for Action-RPG.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1, and Call of Duty: Black Ops for shooter games.

Need for speed: Most Wanted for racing games.

Devil May Cry 4 for "console-like" hack&slash games.

Forgotten Realms series which include Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 and Neverwinter Nights 1. The others are not that great. These games ARE the best Role-Playing Games.

Dell support is terrible. I have a simple application error with their built-In AlienFX system configuration application when reconfiguring the Synaptic trackpad. The Maintenance link on the laptop start menu does not work, so I called Alienware. Alice - cfds trainer.
