Go it alone: Most popular PC genres a solitary affair

Consoles actually have strategy games? I play a few of the games published by Paradox and strategy games are one of the reasons why I like PC over consoles.

strategy and RPGs being at the top for PC doesn't suprise me, same thing with casual.

Most of the games I play on my Xbox are Action, shooter, or sport...

I thought that adventure would be higher for PC than console.

Yup, all of those statistics are correct when applied to what game I play on my xbox vs my computer

I didn't play that. We only really played Golden Eye and once in a while Perfect Dark. Oh and the wrestling games.

I play xbox and ps3 for the quick fixes. My pc is for more time consuming/ in depth gaming.

I'm not surprised. I always believed many great PC games are solo.

Interesting. I am primarily a solo gamer as every time I have grouped, it has been a disaster.

It's true for the most part I prefer to game solo. When I do game with others it's usually friends I know IRL.

I would like a bigger group of people to play with but usually im a solo gamer. However i find this chart very interesting

Flying and Racing games are by far my favourite, but the communities are so small that within a few months of release the games are practically dead. It's a shame.

I'm surprised Flight made it in the list. All though why didn't they just use Simulator instead of Flight?

Simulator could be anything, flight, train, life (sims). It does not define a genre.

Depends how you define "action" I guess. Action could pretty much role all the big contenders up.

Action games are so low on PC, but most popular games on PC are ActionRPGs / DotA atm. (both of them are action games imho)

Racing games are going out since nothing new is comming out also. At least anything worth spending time/money. (Last was Burnout Paradise)

Strategy : Starcraft 2 / League of Legends / HoN / DotA2 / etc.
RPG : GW2 / WoW / Diablo 3 (H&S) / Tera
Action : GW2/Tera/Diablo3/LoL/HoN/DotA2/etc.

How do you define genre now? ActionRPG / ActionStrategy? New types of games has come out. You cannot box new types of games into old patterns.

Not surprised the top 3 on PC are strategy, RPG and casual.

I agree, I still play Dirt 3 but its hard to find people to play with alot of the time

Agreed, but this is due to developers not knowing how to make RTS games work on the controller. Then halo wars came out with a controller set up that worked. I still am surprised strategy games in total amount to that much of a percentage but it should go up now that RTS games now can have decent controls.

I didn't expect racing games to be that low.

Can't imagine that role-playing games (video games) just have 7,2%. I don't have a single role-playing game on my computer. But for my consoles I have many o.ô
