Meh on modern: Shooters "moving towards near future," says DICE

I think it would be interesting to see a futuristic Battlefield game come out in the future. Nice to see games pulling away from the modern concept. (CoD)

cool as long as its done like tom clancy future warrior that game is awesome and is about as realistic as u can get without going overly sci fi they even had an explanation for the active camo it was some kinda light reflective gear and you were still visible at close range

Futuristic shooters can be cool but are too similar to whats already out. BO2 looks like a more realistic Halo or Crysis (with less abilities). I really enjoyed the shooters set in WWII and other past battles. Instead of having a laser gun it was really fun that in the first Black Ops there was a crossbow. There were story lines that were fun to get into but with future (did not happen) events I would rather go into a completely new universe. Especially with 2025 not that far away.... on another note with Crysis 3 the crossbow looks sweet!

It is based off the active camo technology we have today. BAE Systems has been working on the tech for years. I remember first reading about it around 2001-2002. They had a video of the tank that was put out last year.

Sounds like he is saying "We'll wait to see the sales figures of Halo and BO2 and decide a direction from there". I don't think the setting really matters that much, what we want as gamers is the execution of the game.

Well better this, than some future-past games(i don't know their names, cuz i don't like them). Ex. Sci Fi guns in world war II, something like that, and that is bad...

Only reason modern shooters are popular in the first place is from the war in the middle east. Otherwise it would be another WW clone or something to do with Russians

Hope they don't, the more they move into the future, usually the less I like it.

Failure to mention tom clancys future soilder, Its alot of fun and they have a justifialbe reason for the "future" technology that you can use in the game because alot of it already exsist in prototype form or in production

They have one called Battlefield 2142. When it came it out it was freaking awesome! There are too many spawn camping hackers now though. I'd love to see a BF2413 / (like BF 1943 sequal to 1942) XD. But a console version as well. I like PC, but I love console as well.

I don't want to see CoD change time periods, I want to see them make a game that changes the time period that it took to make them. 9 months simply isn't enough.

As long as DICE makes a game that finally lets me cook my grenades, I'll stay beside them like always. Their games always one-up the CoD series, but some of the modern features are lacking in the Battlefield series. You can't leave a lobby before the game starts, at least you couldn't when I played it. You can't cook grenades, can't vote on maps, etc etc.

I like what they did with Halo: Reach - if you leave a game early you got punished a little by getting XP taken away. It wasn't anything major, but it's a small punishment.

Small but simple things go a long way.

I know that they have made these games because I have all of them. I just want them to update it like you said. I think it would be really cool to see a BF2413 as well.

That would be sweet! An FPS where all you have is a crossbow, a slingshot, and a stick as your melee weapon.

COD will be COD despite the era, it'll still be same gameplay, run and gun. Don't think I'm too interested.
