Halftime report: The best games so far this year

dirt 3 kinda sucked. I liked nfs shift 2 better. Crysis deserves to be put in 2nd place. Portal 2 is on my #1 list. Fun game's all in all.

I vote Portal 2. Best puzzle game in a long time.

Bulletstorm was awesome, Portal 2 was okay, but nowhere near Portal 1, Crysis 2 was decent, graphics upgrade was necessary for it, though. Haven't played any others from the list, though I must say that I think that Bulletstorm has my vote. Waggleton P. Tallylicker for the win.

I definitely enjoyed Portal 2. I found it a lot more enjoyable than Portal 1 anyways. There's many community test chambers and a DLC coming out soon as well. I don't know what's not to like about it.

It's not bad, just not nearly as funny as the first installment. Portal 1 is a game that set itself in history for the whole cake business and I just don't see Portal 2 getting there. Good game nonetheless.

The humor in Portal 2 is slightly different from that of Portal. I agree that Portal made a mark in gaming with "The cake is a lie." The thing is, Portal 2 is not Portal. It's a sequel, I wouldn't expect another "The cake is a lie" thing again. That can only happen once. The sequel itself was to tie up the story. The themes that it involves goes beyond Portal. You play Portal to laugh. Not much else. Portal 2 is more story and seeing how it resolves. Portal was a short game to begin with. The sequel had to include new elements to differentiate it and simultaneously stay true to the original. It's hard to pull that off since people always compare the sequel to its predecessor. It obviously depends on the person though. Portal still has unique qualities to it, which makes both games still worth playing.

none of those games are good. the only half decent game out this year (well open beta) is battlefield play4free. crysis 2 is weak, bulletstorm is just bad, portal 2 is first person bejewled deluxe and its short as hell, dirt 3 is about as generic as it gets, dead space 2 is about 5 minutes long, and the witcher 2 has the worst combat system ever to be put in a video game since ET for atari 2600. what ever happened to quality over quantity?

Portal and Portal 2 gives me motion sickness.

I havent played Portal 2 yet (I plan to). Crysis 2 is pretty good, Bulletstorm was very fun but short. Dead Space 2 was also a pretty good game. But the best so far this year has definitely been The Witcher 2
Also, I wouldnt add Dragon Age 2 on the list. While the game was pretty fun, it could have been so much better with more time spent polishing it.

I'm with Portal 2; that was probably the best game I've played this year! (I'm just waiting for Skyrim to change that!)

portal 2

Played none of the games on the list therefore I am no longer considered a legitimate gamer. Have played 11 of the games on the top 25 list though.

I only really like 2 of those (portal and dead space) they should remake that list

What is the take on Shogun 2? I was kind of disappointed that they went back to that era...however the first Shogun did get me addicted to the Total War world. Is it worth picking up? Send me your reviews if you've played it. Thanks :)

played crysis 2, bulletstorm, and dead space2, they are all legit and awesome! bulletstorm only needs a serious story, maybe in the bulletstorm 2 the story will be a success

Out of these, I only like The Witcher 2. Well, I don't like it: I love it! I'm not saying those other games aren't good.

Yeah, I really can't tell if you're trying to troll or if you're being serious.
I really don't like Battlefield Play4Free personally. It's not bad for a free game... But it IS a free game.

The list is good. I love portal 2 and dirt 3.

I think there are more deserving games then Bulletstorm.

I would definetely add Shogun 2 to the list
