Greetings "personal computer" users. All billion of you.
Okaay, so a billion is a little misleading. But there are an estimated 150 million of you already playing games on a PC—by far the most prevalent gaming platform. Which is why Alienware Arena is excited to launch our new Hot Stories section of the website, to help foster thought-provoking conversations about PC gaming news that matters, trends that change the way we play, and games that inspire.
Whether it's discussing the benefits (and challenges) of the platform, highlighting upcoming games, or understanding what makes PC enthusiasts tick, Top Stories plans to be in the thick of it.
So why now? Well, we're growing—thanks to you, as are PC games (surprise!). "We already have contests, videos, forums and events both online and off around the world," says promotions manager Wayne Ferguson. "Editorials are a natural evolution of the site."
More importantly, there's a need for stronger voice when it comes to PC games, something Ferguson says "is underrepresented at other outlets."
As the newly appointed editor-at-large, I'm excited to lead the charge. Admittedly, if it's fun, I'll play it. No matter the platform. But it's no coincidence the PC has remained a constant in my gaming life, while other systems have come and gone. It's something I plan on exploring. Something I plan on documenting. Something I plan on celebrating.
So you know, I'll update the site 2-3 times a week with headlines, feature stories, interviews, previews, human interest stories, pithy columns, and take-aways from key gaming shows.
But I won't be the only one in the driver's seat. If you have an idea or topic you'd like to see covered—or just want to rant or rave—please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to your thoughts and feedback.
Editor-at-large, Alienware Arena
PS — Unreal Tournament is the best game ever. True story.
