”When is the real PC release date?”

Ubisoft has a reputation for delaying (if not intentionally staggering) the release of their games on PC. The thinking goes that if console gamers can easily pirate on PC, they won't buy the game for console. Hence, PC gamers end up being collateral damage.

Aligned releases are slowly improving to where they were before, but if my memory serves me right, Ubisoft has delayed virtually every installment of Assassin's Creed until several months after the console release.

Which is why the following exchange between GameSpy and the company is so comical:

GameSpy: So when's the PC release date (for Assassin's Creed III)?

Ubisoft PR: October 30th.

GameSpy: Yeah, but when's the real PC release date?

Ubisoft PR: It's October 30th.

GameSpy: Uh huh. And can you say that with a straight face?

Ubisoft PR: You can ask me as many times as you like, but the answer will be the same.

GameSpy: Very well, let's move on. So, when will you announce the delay of the PC version?

Ubisoft PR: ...

That is tragic, in both that it's true and in that Ubisoft's fears are well-reasoned, haha! Although I don't see anyone getting converted to PC gaming by the Assassin's Creed games; they aren't the best console-to-pc ports.

Blizzard time is pretty bad as well. The PR guy is just doing his job. I wouldn't take him seriously on the date. Being asked the same question in an interview would be annoying after a while.

This game looks pretty sweet, feel kind of like a noob for asking this, but is it a good idea to get this game if I haven't played any of the previous games?

I choose clear and finished game and does not matter what is delay it will have.

I'd image it would be rather annoying. It's okay though, because now the GameSpy interviewer can feel like he really stuck it to the man, or something.

Waiting doesn't seem too bad with this being the potential upside.
