New Player Guides
Page 1 of 2 1 2
Hello, i started playing dota 2 back in December, now i know thats not a long time, but ive managed to become pretty decent among my journey (atleast so far).
To get a good feel for the game im going to put some links (In Order of priority) that some new players might find helpful.
----------------------------------------------------------
How to play DotA 2 In Under Four Minutes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akUNmFAzS98
Very useful for quick map learning and to verbally hear some useful bits about the game.
----------------------------------------------------------
Guide to learning the ropes, Very useful to read all of it, skim reading will only hurt you.
http://www.dotafire.com/dota-2/guide/learning-the-ropes-a-beginners-guide-to-dota-8
This will help with your overall play.
----------------------------------------------------------
Guide for little tips and tricks.
http://www.dotafire.com/dota-2/guide/updated-the-little-things-tips-and-tricks-boredomisfun-201
This guide will show you some of the useful things you can do to slow enemy progress and help keep yourself alive.
----------------------------------------------------------
These last two im going to combine:
Composition Stats.
http://siyobik.info.gf/misc/dota2/
Character Role Meanings.
http://www.dotafire.com/dota-2/blog/dresmasher/primary-and-secondary-hero-roles
These will help decide what characters are best for your team and what kind of character youd play better.
I suggest you play a lot of bot games, and do a good check over of the store lists. (Make sure you know what items there are and what each of them do) Then id start doing some matches online.. all pick is usually not a good thing to do right off the bat, simply because its easy to get bad matchups with uninformed players causing you to lose in anger.
Ill eventually add a counter character list in here once i find/make one.
Also, If youre not good at remembering characters, keep a tab open with what characters do what roles, i have a couple desk sheets ive made to look through and find characters so i can make the best choice.

Thanks, i know this game is one of many that is hard to grasp right off the bat, and it makes playing discouraging.. also a lot of LoL players have trouble popping right into it too. Hopefully this will help people out.

there has been a lot of dota 2 keys giveaways by players here and there is no guides getting dota 2 keys
They even blew up a guide to play thread with their begging. Also, if theres anything anyone would like to see explained. I could add links or personally write that myself.
Some of the guides on Playdota are also very useful in learning specific characters.
nice ^_^, but isn't there also one from razer with more detail?
Not sure, id have to do some surfing :P Dont be afraid to post links/add your own tips/tricks for new/old players as well.
Those are some sweet guides. I actually use Dotafire for any Hero/item builds I'm unsure of. It's a pretty sweet site that gives you a lot of guidance.
My clan has some nice guides on our forums, but seeing as how I'm not too sure whether I would be allowed to post a link on here, I will resist the urge to link it.
