Block off your base

Page 1 of 3 1 2 3
Just cause your not playing Zerg doesnt mean you don't need to block off your base. The reason is if you give the enemy room to come in your base and they spread their army out within your base, they have more units shooting at you then if you choke em at the entrance.

Think of the movie 300. The chokepoint is why they were so successful.

Blocking your base can also be your own downfall as it will also prevent you from exiting your base quickly or even entering it.

very true dark. I usually keep a probe in the middle of the map to let me know when they are coming. Then me n my teammate have time to prep our unit formation

I'll only block my base if I'm gonna cheese... which I do mildly often. Don't want people seeing my Carrier rush D: Otherwise... I never block my base as protoss... just dumb IMO. Terran should usually block their base just because they are able to open/close a passage from the ramp...

building further from minerals means more walking time of worker means less resources mined
this will slow your tech exponentially
at first your second and third building will be 1-2 seconds later
but lateron you may lose up to 30 secs or even a full minute on late game techs because every step will slower
all of course on the account of you playing perfectly :D

guess what big boy, in 300, they use the army to block off the path, not buildings. which is what you should do in starcraft 2 itself, you leave your army at the ramp......

But the reason the 300 army was so strong was because the had mountains creating the choke point to funnel the enemy army. The mountain=buildings. Its for funneling the enemy not stopping them completely. Like ppl use sentries to separate armies. Same thing
