I might buy a alienware laptop if I get into the beta XD thats how excited I am

I played AoE 1 when I was about 3-5 years old when it first came out. My mom would always type the cheats in for me seeing as I was to young to read or write. I still loved the game like no other.

The race car was my favorite and the priests "ALALOOOO!" I can still hear it ringing in my ears.

I bought the expansion that followed and the sequel the moment it was released.
Like the previous one, I was very young so I cheated and played it till my eyes fell out of my sockets.

By the time Age of Mythology was released I had developed the ability to not get stomped by the computer when I didn't cheat, so I stopped cheating, beat the campaign and crushed much older immature people left and right.

When AoE 3 was released I was first a little disappointed(because of the completely new style) till I actually bought and played the game on release day (I'm a AoE fan, even if it looks bad I can't not by the game) and loved it to my surprise. Got all the expansions and played it till my eyes fell out of my sockets.

After a while I only played it when the WoW servers were down or when my friends wanted to.


AoE has been a huge part of my childhood gaming experience and I'm looking forward to playing AoE Online. Hopefully sooner than later XD

got in...thought I would miss this...now the waiting game

i applied for normal beta 4 months ago and i didnt get in so this is my chance .Im a harcore rts gamer and study comp science so you guys can imagine how excited i am to try this out . I love the way they have designed it this time . The new cartoon style animation is pretty kewl and fun . I wonder y some ppl have such a negative reaction to it . If you guys dont know what im talking about try Battle for Troy or Patapon(psp) which have similar graphics . AOE 2 and mytho were the best games in the series for both casual and hardcore . Both these titles are the key content of aoe online so its going to rock . If any official is reading this please let me in coz ive been w8ing since ages for this game (mytho 2) and cant play any of my mmorpgs now coz i keep thinking this one will be more interesting .

How many hoops do you have to jump through to get to actually sign up for this beta?

Its not as simple as it seems if you dont already have a windows marketplace account.

You have to setup a windows live marketplace account.

Set up a gamer tag

Download the marketplace.

Once you did all that, you then are addressed a random gamertag, and to change it you have to be in a microsoft game throught the marketplace!

So now you have to download one of the demo's just to access the area to change your gamertag. Oh wait they didnt tell youm but you have to spend 800 microsoft points to do so. They allow 1 name change for "free" but im having a hard time changing it for "free" becuase they keep asking for 800 microsoft points.

TLDR;

if you dont have a microsoft xbox live account already, dont bother trying to get into this beta.

Simple, go to xbox.com sign up for a silver account, download windows
market place if you have it, sign up for beta under the email you used
to create your account on xbox.com. If you don't have windows game
market place or an XBL gamertag, then you shouldn't even sign up for
this beta. Its a Microsoft game, and noobs shouldn't be in it.

Does anyone know when the promotion time is over and we know who accctualy got in to the beta?
