Alienware Arena PAX Prime 2011 Round Up
Monday, August 29, 2011

The Alienware Arena invasion is complete as PAX Prime 2011 is now in the history books. If you didn't have a chance to make it to PAX Prime 2011, don't fret, here are some of the highlights you may have missed.
The Alienware Invasion
With nearly 300 Alienware systems being used throughout PAX, Alienware's invasion into PAX Prime 2011 reached far and wide. If you were looking for a hands-on experience on an Alienware system, you certainly had your opportunities.
Waiting is for Other People
Pre-released games were found in abundance at the Alienware Arena booth. Here is a quick rundown of the games available for play at PAX Prime 2011 that haven't been released yet:
Payday
Rusty Hearts
Serious Sam 3
Lord of the Rings: War in the North
Blacklight Retribution
Guild Wars 2
League of Legends: Dominion Gameplay
If you were looking to get an early look on unreleased games and content, the Alienware Arena booth is where you had to be.
League of Legends’ Dominates with Dominion
Attendees at PAX were able to get early access to this unreleased game mode as teams of 4 PAX attendees played with a Riot Games dev in 5v5 Dominion. This brand new game mode brings about an entirely new style of LoL play, as short 15-20 minute matches are filled with non-stop action. The #1 lesson PAX attendees learned from playing was to never give up, as numerous teams made comebacks time and time again.

Blacklight Retribution Wows the Arena
The yet-to-be released game from Perfect World, Blacklight Retribution, wowed the crowds at the Alienware Arena booth, as the game showcased their cyberpunk FPS. This free-to-play shooter made it to the top of the must-try lists of many attendees as the level of customization, polished graphics, and innovative game mechanics impressed both PAX attendees and Alienware Arena staff.
DJ Wheat does it on LAN
If you were at the booth for Blacklight Retribution, you may have had a chance to play against our shoutcaster, DJ Wheat. DJ Wheat took no prisoners as he dominated the match as he carried his team to victory and claimed the top fragger spot.
Hamilton's Great Adventure: Impossible Means Impossible
During our Hamilton's Great Adventure game play, we challenged PAX attendees to beat our custom built Alienware levels in less than 10 minutes. After three days of play and dozens of attempts, not a single person can claim to do the impossible. It was a valiant effort by many, but when we say it's impossible, we really mean it.
Guild Wars 2: The Devs Remain Undefeated
Four teams played in a 5v5 Guild Wars 2 mini-tournament with the final team standing winning gear from Razer and the chance to play the Arena.Net devs for even better prizes. After five different teams took their swing at the Arena.Net devs, the closest any team came to the 500 points they need for victory, was 224. Proving that the Arena.Net devs could be as generous as they were dominating, the team that scored the most points against the Arena.net devs were given a set of NVidia EVGA GTX 560 Graphics Cards despite losing.

Alienware Knows How to Party
The Alienware Arena invasion extended beyond the exhibition halls, as Alienware hosted a PAX party at the Trinity Night Club in downtown Seattle. PAX attendees had the chance to win VIP passes during our competitions and many 21+ year old winners walked away with a pair of VIP passes for the Alienware party.

Riot Games Shows No Mercy: Riot Games vs. Alienware Arena Staff
After the exhibition halls closed, the Alienware Arena staff was lucky enough to get a few games in against the Riot Games staff on their new game mode, Dominion. After three games, the score was:
Riot Games - 3
Alienware Arena - 0
Each game became closer and closer, but still not close enough for a victory for Alienware Arena. The gauntlet has been thrown, as we look forward to exacting our revenge against the Riot Games staff at the next PAX.

Until the next event, hope we get to see you there.
