WiiWare and Virtual Console games are now legally available also on the PC
Playing games via emulators is often seen through the prism of pirating, even though technically the thing is completely legal as long as you own what you play. It is possible therefore that Nintendo could turn a blind eye if the game for Wii, Wii U and older consoles in the future you buy through a computer. Of course, you can through PC buy titles from the eShop, but today we are talking about buying and playing on the same platform, the one that does not belong to Nintendo.
However, the famous emulator named Dolphin received a very important extension that adds the ability to connect us with Wii Shop Channel. This means that with the emulator from now, you can download the demo games and even buy titles from the WiiWare and Virtual Consoles catalogue. Given that it is currently not possible for Switch console, something like this is quite an impressive achievement.
However, there is no guarantee that all your purchased content will work on an emulator. Dolphin is still in active development, but this will certainly help it in the future, unless Nintendo some way denies access to Wii Shop Channel. Even though the company would with that been on loss, probably does not look favourably on the fact that users can switch already purchased digital games to another platform, especially those that are not Nintendo`s. This represents a problem to Nintendo when you want to transfer games between the two of their consoles.
