While Platinum Games' combined output is quite the mixed bag, it's hard to argue against the action pedigree of the studio, when one considers critically acclaimed titles like Bayonetta, Vanquish, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Nier: Automata. One of the directors at the studio, Hideki Kamiya, has now expressed an interest to helm a sequel to one of his old franchises from his days at Capcom, Clover Studios and Platinum Games

.

In the latest edition of Dengeki (via Nibel on Twitter), Kamiya has expressed an interest in developing a sequel to Devil May Cry, Okami, or Bayonetta, even stating that he'd like to do a remake of Viewtiful Joe. In regards to Devil May Cry, this may be a very exciting prospect, as he was the director on the original game back in 2001. Remains to be seen if relations between Capcom and Platinum Games are such that it could become a reality (Capcom famously closed down Clover Studios in 2007. Kamiya most recently worked on Scalebound a title publisher Microsoft cancelled mid-development.

Wow, DMC. That game took some real skill, and the boss fights actually felt epic (unlike some other games I'd rather not mention).
