Denuvo server issues prevented players from playing Batman: Arkham Knight, Mad Max & Shadow of War

Hoazo | 12/20/2017

Due to some Denuvo server issues, PC gamers were receiving an error message while attempting to launch Batman: Arkham Knight and Mad Max. As such, gamers had to click on a Retry button multiple times in order to make both of them work. According to reports, the Denuvo authentication servers were down for almost all Warner Bros’ games and PC gamers were forced to somehow bypass these issues. This also affected Middle-earth: Shadow of War as players were unable to download its latest patch or play the game itself.

Now, this is one of the main reasons PC gamers are against the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Since a respectable number of games are using it, we don’t know what will happen when the Denuvo servers go down. Or I guess we now have a clue; players will be unable to play their legitimately purchased games.

What publishers and developers can do, in order to bypass such a thing, is remove the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from their games (once these games have been cracked). However, we’ve seen numerous publishers refusing to remove Denuvo. As such, and if and when the Denuvo servers get shut down, PC gamers will have to rely on cracks in order to play the games they have purchased.

Protection from pirates should not interfere with the players who bought the game. I understand that they put up defense at the start of the game, but why leave it when the game is already hacked?!

Biting the legit paying customer in the ass again. Publishers need to learn that you don't punish your legit paying customer just because you want to get rid of piracy. In a lot of cases pirated versions of games run better than the retail version of the game or legal digital download version. Syberia 3 and RIME was the games that had serious performance issues on PC because of Denuvo. And you know what? Denuvo will prevent you from playing your legal games once the servers are offline. If publisher doesn't remove the DRM you are out of luck. Your only option is cracks from shady sites that can get your computer infected with malware. This mess needs to end once and for all. Protections are broken and then new ones are made. This is the circle of life and always annoys the paying customer more.
