The gods of piracy finally outsmarted Denuvo's protection for Assassin's Creed Origins

It's not too hard to say that pirates have always found ways to outsmart developers and technology that protects video games from illegal distribution. Last year they were in a particularly hot moment when Denuvo Anti-Tamper protection was cracked in record time, and many new titles ended on torrent sites in less than 24 hours. The same fate threatened the latest addition to the Assassin's Creed series, however, Ubisoft, on top of the new Denuvo 4.8 version, further provided its product with VMProtect.

Despite the fact that many have complained that this combination of protection brings down performance on the PC, Ubisoft refused to abandon its software defense that protected Assassin's Creed Origins for more than three months. But since pirates only had a skyline, it was only a matter of time before Bayek's adventures would be available to a wider audience.

So, the pirate version of the Egyptian Assassin's Creed is now available for download, but it should be emphasized that it's just a bypass crack. In other words, Denuvo is still working in the background, which means it is futile to expect any improvement in the performance of the game, at least until the pirate group is completely resolved or Ubisoft does not completely remove it; in the case that the same is truly also the culprit.

In any case, it will be interesting to keep track of whether Ubisoft will finally remove the layer from Assassin's Creed Origins, since the game has already been pirated, but if it is guided by an old policy known as Affair Watch_Dogs 2, then that is probably not going to happen. Nevertheless, it is worth complimenting Denuvo that after last year's fiasco it finally managed to protect the sale of the game for more than three months, and if the new 5.0 version would be equally difficult to patch as we can expect the upcoming titles, including Far Cry 5, to be sure at least for two months.

Lunar

I had fears that they would ruin the AC series with this part, but it only gets better and better :3

Reminder that Ubisoft at one point said that 93% of their games gets pirated. They could bullshit their way out of everything when it came to piracy.

It's not even about protecting the sale of the game. Thanks to Denuvo, many games that don't have it, shows close to no difference between sales compared to games with Denuvo attached.

I'm also still baffled on how Assassin's creed is still relevant these days.

Existential

Yes, yes, and pirates never have to put up with the BS that actual paying customers do.

Interstellar

I believe that there's no game can't be cracked.

Here I am, ready to play. Gaming enthusiast without free time to actually play video games but eager to learn anything

The only way for publishers to avoid their games is to allow them to play them only through a platform of games in the cloud or make them in multiplayer online, that's why we see more and more online multiplayer games and fewer single player ones, that way they can control the life cycle of the game and close servers when they want, and some players seem happy with that.
