Eastward is a new game from a team behind Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley from 2016 was a big indie hit that to an independent developement team Chucklefish opened the door for future projects. One of such is for now an unannounced game placed in a magical world, but this is not the only title the team will launch in the near future. Namely, Chucklefish Games agreed to cooperate with the independent team Pixpil from Shanghai, and the fruit of this collaboration will be a pixelized 2D adventure called Eastward.
Eastward in the style of inspired Japanese animation from the 90's will present the world on the edge of decay. In this world we will play as a miner called John who discovers a mysterious little girl in a secret facility underneath his mining site. The two of them start an adventure of escape through decaying towns inhabited by weird monsters and even stranger people.
The game is in development for three years, and so far on it worked a team of three people. As the ambitions for the game increased, so Chucklefish noticed the potential and joined this project. With them same thing did composer Joel Corelitz (The Unfinished Swan, Gorogo) and the Irish studio Hyperduck Soundwork. Eastward should come out on PC in the near future.
