New Mod enables Multiplayer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance, as shown in first offcial video
V-sync is known as a PC player from the graphics options. After all, nobody likes to play with streaks. "Horse Sync" sounds a lot funnier and probably more fun. Because behind this name is no technology to keep your horses in lockstep, but a multiplayer mod for the gamehit "Kingdom Come: Deliverance". The fact that there is more to it than just a great idea is proven by a first video.
The quote "I am a horse!" From the video of the mod describes the current state of the project pretty well. Because other players do not seem to be shown yet. But you can see your horses. This is already the full extent of the mod that will later provide a fully functional multiplayer mode.
In the video, it seems as if it is not yet possible to get off the horse. The players ride the players together through medieval Bohemia and visit the forests and villages of the game world.
The presentation has already been published three weeks ago. The developer also talked about technology at Reddit at the time. Since Kingdom Come: Deliverance has no SDK, the modders had to use reverse engineering to find out how the game works.
Since the game itself has an interpreter for the scripting language Lua, the modders can inject Lua code. The game recognizes this and executes it. So the players can see each other as horses. In the future, the functionality may change.
For the names above the players horses, however, they use Direct3D. A technique that casts a spell on many online games, as cheats also use this technology to display their user interface and also to influence the graphics of the games themselves, for example by showing Wallhack players through walls.
For the time being, the developers do not know if they will finish this mod ever. Should they be able to continue the project, players should have a chance to try it out.
