The creation of the first part of GTA (1996) - 6 minutes from behind the scenes

Reporter Rory Cellan-Jones visited the headquarters of the DMA Design studio on May 16, 1996 - 23 years ago. To celebrate this anniversary, the BBC provides a full 6-minute reportage on its Twitter.
From the beginning, GTA was considered brutal and vulgar. It was to be completed in June 1996, it hit the market in November 1997 in the PC version.
Later, the game also had its problems. In 2003, Mark Gallagher, the author of Crime Inc, accused the studio of plagiarism. Gallagher showed his production during the interview. He did not get his job, but his studies appealed to the studio's masters.
Today DMA Design does not exist anymore. After a few changes, it came into the hands of Rockstar Games and from September 1999 it's called Rockstar North.

For those who don't know and want to try - both parts of (so called) classic GTA are free.
