Here's What CD Projekt Red Really Said About Religion in Cyberpunk 2077

A CD Projekt Red interview with the news site Gry Online WP on NeoGAF was lately converted into English on its video game message board. The translation was incorrect and the CD Projekt Red has given a more precise transfer of their answers.

The translation has recorded a quotation that is ascribed to the CD Projekt Red Quest Director of the project, Meteusz Tomaskiewicz, who said "the CD Projekt Red is not going to prevent topics, even if the sensitiveness of some of them offends."

IGN asked CD Projekt Red if the translation was correct, and a business representative advised us that the translation was not correct. CD Projekt Red sent their own Polish interview English translation to IGN, which we included below.

Gry Online WP (English): You mentioned religion. Does it still exist in the Cyberpunk world?

CD Projekt Red (English): Yes, and in many forms. As I mentioned, our vision is somehow based on the real world. And religion is a very important part of the latter, society-wise. In our game we’re going to see for example Christianity and its different branches, or religions from the East.

Gry Online WP (English): Sounds controversial. Someone will enter a church to cause havoc.

CD Projekt Red (English)We do not want to avoid religion as a topic, authenticity of the world is what counts for us. Technically, the situation you mentioned is possible, but this is all about the choices made by the player. We won’t encourage the player to do so. In our quests, which involve religious themes, we make sure there’s no disrespect.

The in-game Christian group did not mention the CD Projekt Red. The designers did not say any specific group would offend. Instead, the they describe that religion, as in the real world, will be present in Cyberpunk 2077. And while in the game, players are free to explore religion, the quests involving religion are intended to prevent irregularities.

Players should therefore anticipate the Cyberpunk 2077 to meet real world religions. While it's up to you to do what you'll do in the game, CD Projekt Red won't deliberately include stories into the game that might offend religious people.

Based on Mike Pondsmith's RPG tabletop universe, Cyberpunk 2077 is a new RPG for the first person from CD Project Red. CD project Red has stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will give players a broad variety of options for how they explore the city of the night.

Lol. That's what you get for translating interviews off Google Translate and not double checking your articles. Swear to god anyone can be called a "journalist" these days.
