"Gus" Rodríguez, pioneer of video game journalism in Mexico and Latin America, dies at 59 years of age.
Gus Rodríguez, one of the most recognized gamers in Mexico, screenwriter and television producer, died at the age of 59. The news of his death was shared on Twitter by Eugenio Derbez, with whom he worked for several years.
Considered a teacher for video game lovers, Gus Rodríguez was the creator and main host of the program Nintendomanía, which was broadcast on TV Azteca in 1995, and in which he explained the news and tricks of video games in the Nintendo franchise, in addition to talking about their consoles so far as NES, SNES, Gameboy, Virtual Boy and Nintendo 64.
Gus Rodríguez was a producer, screenwriter, writer, and television host. Mainly recognized for being one of the founders of Club Nintendo magazine in the 90s, as well as the Nintendomania tv show. Both works were the first approach to the world of video games for many of us, which positioned him as one of the most important personalities of this industry in our country.
