Destiny 2: Now and next-gen
Bungie studios are becoming one of the first game publishers to take a stand and not force its consumers to buy multiple copies of the same game for different platforms. With Destiny 2 unveiling the Beyond Light expansion releasing September 22nd, a horde of returning players will get back into the game and experience this new pack.
However, like most gamers who do not game on PC… next-gen consoles usually release towards the end of the year, which means waiting to buy games until they come out on these new consoles and paying a premium for it.
Later this year, we are FINALLY getting graced with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X. Bungee has taken the initiative to invite current owners of Destiny 2 to upgrade if they decide to play on a next-gen console. In simple words, we do not have to buy the same game twice! YAY Bungie!
If your anything like me and get addicted to a game, I like to have it on every system. For example, my one true love of games is the Binding of Isaac. This little indie game released on Steam in 2012 and over the years released on multiple consoles. I detest saying that I have bought the base game and “Afterbirth” expansions on PC, PS4, Nintendo 3DS, and Switch.
With progressive change, I hope other publishers follow Bungie’s lead and offer the ability to upgrade the game if you get a new console. It would be a world of difference to us gamers.
