Standout Trailers from the 10th Annual ID@Xbox Showcase

  • 11

The ID@Xbox Showcase spent its 10th year thrilling Xbox players with new trailers and sneak peeks! The roughly hour-long show wasted no time showcasing quite a few exciting games that are coming to Xbox or releasing soon. All of the games deserve the spotlight, but here are 5 that really stood out:

Starting off exciting but bittersweet we have: Hellboy Web of Wyrd

We got a second look after it was first announced last year; Hellboy Web of Wyrd is a roguelike action brawler with an original story written by the series creator, Mike Mignola. Hellboy is voiced by the late Lane Reddick, a beloved actor and voice actor famous for movies such as the John Wick Chapters as well as lending his talents to voice acting as he did as Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West and Commander Zavala in Destiny and Destiny 2. Reddick passed away earlier this year, and the loss was deeply felt throughout the gaming community as players gathered to hold in-game memorials. The recent and sudden loss makes it bittersweet to hear his talented voice acting once again, so let’s hope the game lives up to its potential to memorialize Reddick’s talents. With dark graphics and a comic book aesthetic that vows to stay loyal to Mike Mignola’s original masterpieces, it looks like it’s on the right track.

Birth

Birth quickly sets itself apart from other chill puzzle games with its casual endearing creepiness. The soft color palate lends itself to a cozy aesthetic for this puzzle game based on building a creature from spare parts that you find inside the game. Birth has been out on Steam since February 17th of this year and has gotten fabulous reviews and launches on Xbox on July 28th! If you’re into puzzles and a bit of macabre this would be the one for you!

Scarlet Deer Inn

Scarlet Deer Inn is not your average narrative platformer. Attu Games (a husband and wife team from the Czech Republic) have set itself apart by utilizing embroidery for all of their character images and aiming to do everything themselves including animation, programming, music, and publishing. To capture this innovative and unique look, each of the characters has been embroidered on a machine and then converted digitally. The duo says that they get their inspiration from “the amazing movies by the Ghibli studio, medieval Europe, and Slavic folklore.” Add this one to your wishlist to stay updated on the release date!

Stray Souls

If you’re a fan of being scared, you’re in for a treat with the third-person action horror that is Stray Souls! You’ll play as Daniel, a teenager that inherits a home from his grandmother. (If you know horror, you know this is usually the perfect recipe for a good plot!) You’ll fight creatures, do puzzles, and find out the truth behind your family history! The only thing better than destroying creepy monsters is having an incredible soundtrack while doing so, and that’s a guarantee since the legendary Akira Yamaoka, who is famous for his incredible work on Silent Hill, is a special guest composer! This is set to come out sometime in 2023, so be sure to wishlist.

Stumble Guys

Now, how about something a bit more colorful and cheery? Stumble Guys is coming to Xbox! Stumble Guys is an energetic and fast-paced online multiplayer game where you’ll compete against up to 32 players trying to get through an obstacle course. You also have the option to play against friends and family which makes this a fantastic party game! With over 30 maps, levels, and game modes there are endless ways to stumble! Players can pre-register now on StumbleGuys.com to join the party on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One and get early Beta access and free launch gifts!
