D&D Roll20 Now Available in Discord Servers

The world of tabletop gaming has always been an exciting space for gamers everywhere, with Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) being a large part! This classic role-playing game has evolved over the years, adapting to new technologies and expanding its reach beyond physical tables. And if you haven’t heard, Discord announced that the latest activity integration is none other than D&D through Roll20 on all Discord servers!

It’s likely safe to say, if you’re reading this, you probably know about the community magic that is Discord, all its bells and whistles, and the variety of games available through the activities function – shoutout Catan, erm, I mean Colonist! Discord has always been known for its robust communication features and has become a hub for gamers and communities alike. Now, with the integration of Roll20, a popular virtual tabletop platform, Discord servers can offer a one stop-shop D&D experience!

If you’re not familiar, the platform Roll20 provides a really neat and comprehensive suite of tools for D&D, including digital character sheets, interactive maps, and automated dice rolls. These features streamline gameplay, making it accessible to both seasoned players and newcomers alike. Insert the power hand-shake meme here, because combining the organizational and communication strengths of Discord with the interactive gameplay of Roll20 is a solid move.

I took a quick peek at the interactions and connectivity from the Discord platform to Roll20 to get a sense of how things work. Now, I will be the first to say I am definitely a novice when it comes to D&D and Roll20 – unironically, I just started my first campaign recently, so I am still learning the ropes. From my first online campaign sessions, it seems that the Discord integration has everything you need. I was able to login to my Roll20 account easy peezy, select a campaign that I wanted to test (there are both free and paid campaigns) load up a character that I made (shout out to my fellow Druids) and start interacting with the maps and tiles on screen, without leaving Discord once! I am sure some season D&D fans will have more of a critical analysis of the venture here; however, for a newcome like myself, it was easy to get into so if you’re on the fence, this could be a perfect way to try out this chaotic world of rolling 1s (if you're as unlucky as I am)!

Check out this tutorial video straight from Roll20 on how to get rolling your own dice!

I want to hear from you! Have you tried out this new activity on Discord? Are you excited about this new integration? Have you tried Roll20? Have you never played D&D but always have wanted to, just like me? Let’s roll for initiative and chat about it in the comments!

Hop in the Alienware Arena Discord and start your own D&D nights!

So is anyone planning to host something in AWA? I don't have anyone to play with and i'm also new to D&D.

Lunar

Been thinking of starting to play DnD but no local groups here.

Roll 20 might be what I am looking for.
