Hi guys, I know that The Game Awards have already taken place a few days ago but I have to say that I think the decision to award Astro Bot as the best game of the year is completely bizarre and arbitrary without defined criteria, and what do you think about this award? Was it fair or bizarre and arbitrary? For me it´s joke.....

Astro Bot won because it's actually creative and not senselessly pandering to an audience of the lowest common denominators with no actual taste for different flavors. This game "saved" Sony's 2024 year after other failures such as Concord.

I never even heard of the game before the awards lol

Astro Bot's an alright pick. More importantly, all these game awards shows shouldn't be taken seriously. They're mostly there to hype up new games while patting AAA companies on the back

TheJobberwock There were people who didn't like this post even though it was a prize that is irrelevant from a technical evaluation point of view.

I absolutely don't mind it. Astro Bot truly is a great game in my opinion. Very versatile, yet incredibly polished and creative.

Astro Bot is a good and fun game but it is overrated, it is a game that suffers from the "Mario syndrome"

I guess you missed the news about the "Rigged Game Awards", where the gamer ratings count only for 10% of the final result & the other 90% come from a (now made secret) list of "Gaming (Activist) Journalists." But Geoff has the final word.
