Lara Croft will not have shorts and dual pistols in a new Tomb Raider

If you’ve been holding out hope that Lara Croft’s iconic dual pistols will make a return in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you may be disappointed to hear they won’t be.

Although it is one of the basic elements that helped shape Lare Croft's character in the first Tomb Raider games, the dual pistols will not appear in the Shadow of the Tomb Raider because they do not match the creative vision of the game, or the modern Tomb Raider trilogy that Shadow of the Tomb Raider completes.

According to Shadow of the Tomb Raider game director Dan Bisson, and how shares SirusGaming, the bow has replaced the dual pistols for the modern Lara.

“No. I don’t want that. For us this is her defining moment,” he said. “We’re not going to put her in shorts with double-pistols, wearing a bikini; that’s not what this is.”

But if this new, more modern Lara Croft has never sat for you, no worries - Bisson felt the need to clarify how he could not comment about the future Tomb Raider titles and the direction in which Lara Croft as a character in them could go, but how will in his game the bow will still be her signature weapon.

To recall, Shadow of the Tomb Raider releases on September 14 this year in PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions.
